LinkVault — Privacy Policy

LinkVault ("we", "our", or "the app") is a link management applicationfor Android. This policy explains what data the app handles, how it isused, and the choices you have.

1. Summary

LinkVault stores all of your data locally on your device.We do not operate any servers, we do not require an account,and we do not collect, transmit, or sell your personal data.

2. Data stored on your device (local only)

The following information is saved only on your device, in theapp's local database, and never leaves your device through us:

  • Saved links (URL, title, description, domain)
  • Categories, tags, favorites, pinned status
  • Smart collections
  • Usage metadata stored locally (date added, last opened, open count)
  • App settings and preferences

3. Private Vault

Links you mark as private are protected as follows:

  • Your PIN is stored only as a salted SHA-256 hash. The plain PINis never saved and cannot be recovered by us or anyone else.
  • Biometric unlock (fingerprint/face) is handled exclusively by theAndroid operating system. The app never sees or stores yourbiometric data.
  • The Private Vault screen blocks screenshots and app previews.

If you forget your PIN, protected links cannot be recovered. There isno backdoor by design.

4. Third-party services

The app integrates the following third-party services. Their datapractices are governed by their own privacy policies.

4.1 Google AdMob (advertising)

The app displays ads served by Google AdMob. Google and its partnersmay collect and process:

  • Advertising ID (device identifier for ads)
  • Device information (model, OS version, language, screen size)
  • Approximate location derived from IP address
  • Interaction with ads (views, clicks)

This data is used to serve and measure ads. You can learn more inGoogle's Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy

Your choices:

  • Users in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom are showna consent form (Google UMP) before any ads are loaded. You can acceptor decline, and you can change your choice at any time viaSettings > Privacy options inside the app.
  • On Android you can also opt out of ads personalization viaSettings > Google > Ads > Delete advertising ID.

4.2 Google Favicon Service

To display a small icon next to your saved links, the app requests thewebsite's favicon from Google's public favicon service(https://www.google.com/s2/favicons). Only the domain name of thewebsite you saved is included in that request. No other data aboutyou or your other links is sent.

5. Permissions the app uses

  • Internet — to load website favicons, serve ads, and open linksin your browser.
  • Network state — to check connectivity before loading ads.
  • Biometric — to unlock the Private Vault with yourfingerprint/face (data handled by Android only).

The app does not request access to your contacts, location,camera, microphone, or files. Import/export of backups uses theAndroid system file picker, so files go only where you choose.

6. Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your data. The only data flows outsidethe app are:

  1. Ad requests to Google AdMob (described in section 4.1).
  2. Favicon requests to Google's favicon service (described in 4.2).
  3. Opening a link in your browser or sharing a link via apps YOU choose.

7. Data retention and deletion

  • All data lives on your device until you delete it.
  • You can delete any link, category, or collection at any time insidethe app.
  • Exports (JSON / HTML / CSV) are saved to a location you choose andremain under your full control.
  • Uninstalling the app permanently deletes all local data, includingthe vault. No copy exists anywhere else.

8. Children's privacy

LinkVault is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or theequivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowinglycollect personal data from children.

9. Security

  • Data stays in the app's private storage, inaccessible to other apps.
  • PIN protection uses salted SHA-256 hashing.
  • The vault screen blocks screenshots and recents thumbnails.
  • We never transmit your links to any server operated by us.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. The effective date abovewill always show the latest version. Material changes will be reflectedin app release notes.
